Strange thing going on ...

After 1 day running, i can nolonger access my iis webserver.

Error Code 10061: Connection refused
Background: The server you are attempting to access has refused the connection with the gateway. This usually results from trying to connect to a service that is inactive on the server.

I have a web access rule for outgoing traffic for LAN to port 80.

I have a webserver rule that listens on my internet nic and routes web traffic for port 80 to port 12345 on the IIS server.

checking my ISA logging on web access rule
normal VS broken
Allowed Connection - Failed Connection Attempt
HTTP Status Code 80 - HTTP Status Code 10061
Cache Information 0 - Cache Information 0x40020000
Error Information 0x40 - Error Information 0x80

Restarted IIS, no luck. After a server reboot it works again.
Worked fine for 1 month

Hi Zinno,

1. Where is the client?

2. What client type?

3. Where is the ISA firewall?

4. Where is the Web server?

Thanks!
Tom

1. Where is the client?
If it breaks its for both inside & outside my network for IIS server & apache hosted sites.
All other external websites & exchange service is working properly.

2. What client type?
Windows XP professional, running IE

3. Where is the ISA firewall?
The ISA server is on a server with 2 network cards running windows 2003 server.
The server has ISA-server, DNS, IIS, apache & FTP on it. Exchange and other services are running on a different server.

4. Where is the Web server?
The webserver is on the same server as the ISA server. All IIS websites are hosted on port 12345.
All apache websites are hosted on port 8800
ISA is listing on port 80 on the external nic. No port 80 conflict in ISA log or server log.

enabled some extra logging, should give me a better idea whats going on when it break again.

thx for reply

Connection to IIS never really breaks.

just the webpages needs 3 refreshes to turn up.

Its only for IIS site not for apache server...

logs are empty apart from the line i posted earlier.

This seems to occure when your webpublishing rule is to complex.

ex listen 2 networkcards

creating a straight forward rule

listen port 80 forward to port of server

resolved the issue
