The title says it all I'm basically testing and learning isa server 2004. I put it behind a basic netgear fvs318 broad band router. My cable connection is 3meg down I normally average around 2300 to 2700 down. Well after I installed isa my speed went down to 1100 to 1400 down. I tried it with and without the proxy. I have active directory setup with my internal dns servers forwarding to my isp's dns servers. Can someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong or is this normal.

Hi Watts,

Do you have a network diagram? Make sure to include IP addressing information on the ISA firewall's NICs.

Also, is this true for all protocols, or just some protocols? All sites, or just some sites?

Thanks!
Tom

I don't have a network diagram but I will can draw out one in visio. I'm testing isa on a p3 1gig ahertz with 512 pc133 amd a 40 gig 7200 rpm drive. Of course the production box at work will be scsi. I have 4 nics in the box I've listed ip configuration below. As I stated above I'm not running any dns on the isa box my dns is ad integrated I'm than forwarding all non lan request to my isp's dns servers. Also as far as protocals I've only tested it on http basic web surfing no downloading. Any help with this problem would be strongly appreciated.

internal
ip= 192.168.188.0
subnet mask 255.255.255.0
default gateway= no gateway
dns= 192.168.188.5
wins= 192.168.188.5

Wan which is a netgear router in front of isa
ip= 192.168.198.2
subnet mask 255.255.255.0
default gateway this is ip address of netgear
192.168.198.1

Wireless DMZ
ip= 192.168.210.1
subnet mask 255.255.255.0

Standard DMZ

I spoke to our senior network admin about the prblem. He tells me that this is normal and that isa does not give you your full bandwidth. Basically if you pull 3meg down after you install isa you will most likely get half of that. He explained that it uses caching to compensate.
