Hi, I'm new to this forum...

My knowledge of networking is very limited...

I have a problem connecting to a microsoft exchange server...

I have to connect via a vpn then I send/recieve or press f9 to sync...

I have no problem connecting if I plug my laptop direct into my cable modem, but if I use my edimax router and try to connect wireless, I get an error which says '! task microsoft exchange server reports error (0x8004011D)the server is not available, contact your admin...

I can connect to the VPN which also allows me to get onto my companies intranet...

Last week I was staying in a hotel, which had wireless, this allowed me to connect and retreive my email no probs...!

My router which plugs into my motorola surboard sb4100 modem is an edimax

web page

I'm running windows 2000 on my laptop with office 2003.

My friend had the same problem and switched off the firewall in the router which cured the problem, mine is disabled plus he couldn't access the vpn, which I can...

I have contacted our support who inform me they don't offer support on wireless, which really helps "[Frown]"

Please help if you can "[Smile]"

Hi SM,

Are you using Secure Exchange RPC or RPC over HTTP?

Thanks!
Tom

I'm not sure I understand your exact situation, but your wireless router needs to be able to "passthrough" your VPN tunnel protocol. If your VPN uses PPTP, then your wireless router needs to enable PPTP passthrough. If your VPN uses L2TP/IPSec, then your router needs to pass that instead.

Hi, It uses ppt ...

But I'm not sure how to set it up on the router...

Next step is a short rope, a chair and a branch to hang from [Frown]

log in to your router's console (probably via http) and you should be able to configure it from there; unless of course, you have a really old or cheap router.

According to the link, your router doesn't seem to support PPTP passthrough. It can, however, initiate a PPTP connection. Perhaps this is an option for you? You should call their support line and explain that you want the router to pass your computer's PPTP packets to a server on the Internet. they might have a firmaware revision that will support this.
