Hey guys ,

When I try to open a .zip file attachment then I get this error :

Technical Information (for support personnel)

Error Code: 500 Internal Server Error. The request is not supported. (50)

We have isolated the problem to being caused by ISA 2004 RC1.

Now what's strange is we tried to rename a .rar file to .zip , posted it , and this file opens without problems.

We also tried renaming an original .zip file to .rar and the file is still blocked , which means it's got something to do with the file scanning mech of ISA 2004.

any one else have this problem ? ( btw : we tried changing every rule in ISA , inclusing HTTP filters etc.. nothing helps.

Kind regards,
LExP.

Hi Lex,

What happens if you disable the HTTP Security filter on the rule?

Did you make any changes to the filter? How large was the file? How long was the URL?

Thanks!
Tom

Hi Tom,

What happens if you disable the HTTP Security filter on the rule?

- Same problem , zip files don't work

Did you make any changes to the filter?

- No , I use the default RC1 filter

How large was the file?

- 200Kb , the same file but RAR ext. will work.

How long was the URL?

- Don't know exactly , but not more than 10000 characters [Smile] more like 70 or so.

Kind regards,
Lex P.

btw : we're not using latest 'refresh' release of RC1. Which build do you have and how did you get it ?

Hi Lex,

I'm using a refresh, but I think I would be hard pressed to replicate your cofig. Do you see this with all zip files, or just this one in particular?

Thanks!
Tom

Hi Tom ,

All zipfiles give this specific errors.
All ( I mean ALL ) other files go thru fine.
We know it's the ISA but we don't know exactly what within ISA causes the problem.

Let's hope it's resolved in final version [Smile]

Hi Lex,

Its pretty strange, because I download zip files of all sizes all the time through the ISA firewall and never have any problems. It'll be interesting to see if the problem goes away with RTM.

Thanks!
Tom

I know it is late, but I'd like to add a workaroud to this issue.
The workaroud is to define the publishing rule using the "Mail server publishing rule" wizard.
I first tried to publish our mail server manually (using the "New access rule" wizard), everything worked well but the .zip attachments.
Asking the file directly to OWA wasn't a problem but we get a 500 internal error using ISA.
The two rules seems to be identical, every tab is set to the same values, I have used the same listener I have defined for the "manual rule".
